NRV: No Redeeming Value
This story and characters are creations of Toronto-based writer Mark Bertolini (Feeder / Strange Case / Bigfoot Frankenstein) with whom I have the honor of working on this comics.
Scroll down and take a look at how we are developing the project.
CHARACTERS CONCEPTS AND DESIGNS
Our protagonists, MOB-HANDED, a troupe of teenage heroes (second class heroes - as I like to think) patrolling the streets of Los Angeles (unsuccessfully) in search of some villain they can kick in the ass.
This is Steve (aka HOTSEAT) – fire/heat-based powers. I see of Steve as one of those “hunky surfers californian idiots”. He's a rich boy and it's his Jeep that the Mods drive. This makes him see himself as the leader of the group (Which is still true).
Steve spent a lot of money on making this costume. One of the demands he made of the public relations people who designed it was "my hair needs to look cool, ok!"
Sometimes Hotseat wears a firefighter's jacket and helmet. Steve likes to think of himself as a "partner with the Los Angeles Fire Department."
This is not a mutual opinion.
This was a (rejected) possibility of making the Hotseat costume (expensive and made by “professionals”) more heroic with longer gloves and boots and – of course! - underwear outside the pants.
Jeff is GONER, an athletic hispanic boy. He would have a successful career in the NFL if he wasn't “a goner”.
Goner's regeneration powers make him virtually indestructible, but it doesn't grant him any attacking gifts.
That's not a problem, Jeff is a wild street fighter.
I thought about making a homemade versions of the next Mods to contrast with the expensive fantasy made by Steve for Hotseat. The choice for Goner is a tactical version. As if his costume was assembled from parts of military uniforms.
These were preliminary (rejected) versions for Goner's uniform.

No one knows much about MECHANISM - apparently not even herself - where it came from and what its purpose is. To blend in, Mechanism disguises itself with a full set of hoodies and a holographic projection of a human face.

Still the disguise never quite works.
Early (and rejected) male version of Mechanism.
Stacy (VIRAL) would seem like a normal girl in a town where everyone wants to be special. And she didn't want to look like anything else.

Of course, you can't pass for an ordinary girl when your skin are green and your pupils are red.
The first version of Viral's costume felt a little too "professional",...
...so I proposed a version she made using a hat and green jeans.
The chosen version ended up being this second one, but with a smaller mask.
Dealing with Chris (BROOD) is like handling a bee hive. He is never fully under control. That goes for his powers and his temper.
In the first approach, I thought of Brood's suit made from a graphene alloy capable of containing his body's energy blasts. The only opening available on the suit is on the face where Chris launches his attacks in combat.
This proposal, however, does not match the author's vision for the character. Following your guidance, I kept Chris's "ugly face", but in a more "street raised" version for Brood.
Now, the antagonist in this story. This is The EXTANT, the most famous hero in the world, operating out of Los Angeles.

This is the visual of Extant at the height of his glory.
In addition to being "a god among men", the Extent is allowed to lead a life as an ordinary and "handsome" guy (secret identity?).
But he’s also a long-gone heroin junkie and has taken to scoring off scumbag dealers on the streets. And like a fallen god, The Extend is in complete decline under the effects of heavy drugs.
